Title Leveraged model
Most WordPress site-building tools operate on a DIY (Do It Yourself) model: the builder sets you up with a drag-and-drop environment atop a blank canvas, and it’s your responsibility to make professional design decisions as you assemble your layouts with the builder’s tooling.
This DIY model isn’t ‘wrong.’ It’s the status quo, the foundation upon which millions (perhaps billions) of dollars of value has been created.
But it’s not without its flaws. The DIY model has a ‘quality ceiling,’ and it’s the reason why most WordPress sites (particularly those built with page-builders) have a ‘less than sterling’ look and feel to them, from the visual consistency of the narratives, to the responsiveness, to the accessibility, and so forth.
Websites are complex machines, and the ‘good ones’ are not so easily re-assembled, even with the most granular LEGO blocks.
We need to get closer to the metal.
