Title Quick Start: Landing Page

If you need a responsive, well-designed, easily-editable landing page for your personal site, portfolio site, or your next big idea, and you’re willing to:

  • use common-fare, accessible, responsive components instead of a custom design, and
  • add decoration and branding later,
you can use Aviator to prop one up in a few seconds.

Step 1: Install Aviator

After your purchase, follow the instructions to install and activate Aviator on a new WordPress install if you haven’t already done so.

Step 2: Install Loops & Logic

The free Loops & Logic (L&L) plugin works with Aviator to help you fetch dynamic data from your WordPress database via HTML tags.

We’re building a static landing page here, but L&L will help us grab the current year for the copyright notice in our footer (so you’ll never have to worry about updating it).

Step 3: Create a Home page

Navigate to Pages > Add New in your WordPress Dashboard to create a Home page (or rename the default Sample Page to Home). Make sure to publish your new page.

Step 4: Add a pre-built layout

Once you’ve published your page, click Edit with Aviator to load it in the Aviator Dashboard.

In the Aviator Dashboard, select the Layouts tab from your Library Panel, find a layout you like, and click its Add Layout button (or just drag and drop the layout on to the Canvas).

Save and Publish your changes by hitting the Save + Publish button in the top right corner of the Aviator dashboard.

Once your page has saved, you can click the View button (next to the Save + Publish button) to open your new page in a new tab.

Now that you’ve successfully leveraged Aviator’s component library, you can move on to editing your layout’s text and imagery.
